Very difficult to pick QF winners this time. Of the 8 matches I am fairly certain about only one winner, Federer. Other matches could go either way.
If I had to choose the other winners, they would be
Nadal Robredo Canas
Pierce Karatancheva Ivanovic Henin
For the men, interesting that the only two remaining Argentines are Canas and Puerta (no Coria, Gaudio, Nalbandian).
The women's matches are especially difficult to pick. Somehow I am most certain about Pierce, though that is still not very certain. Davenport has had problems in her every match. As long as Kim played well, there was nothing she could do. I believe that Pierce can play well enough to win. OTOH, Davenport could win FO by winning all her 7 matches in three sets. I doubt any woman has done that in history?
Henin should be a clear favourite against Sharapova based on the lesson in clay tennis she gave to Sharapova few weeks ago. Then again, Henin played 3 h 15 min today, and has back problems. But then again, at USO 2003 it was uncertain if she could even play the final after a really tiring SF. But she played, and played painfully well... I think she is going to win tomorrow.
I predict Henin - Pierce final, but how about Karatancheva - Ivanovic final?

Almost impossible. Kara is not that impressive and she will lose to Likhovtseva in quarters.
federer in 3, nadal in 4, davydenko in 5, canas in 4
i have no idea about women tennis after hingis quit

i would give the edge to davenport. i don't know that either of these players is particularly mobile. it could go either way though. my thinking is that davenport is going to be very motivated because she can see herself actually winning this year. if so, it would be more of a statement about the level of play among the competition than it would about davenport's.
Karatancheva>
this prediction seems rather whimsical.
the last 2 predictions seem reasonable, however, i don't agree that henin-hardenne is a "clear favorite". i would say that the winner of this match would be the clear favorite to win the tournament, though.
you right: Nadal won in 3, as well as Federer. I guess it will be a big match between them, like a real final

Well, I got Pierce and Henin correct. I trusted too much to the youngsters, although I knew anything could happen in those matches. Ivanovic played awfully.

Very nervous, I think. It's hard to tell with her, because she doesn't wear her heart on her sleeve the way, say, the Russians do. But I thought her inexperience really showed. And not surprising: it's only the second GS event she's ever played.

Yes, Petrova is a very experienced campaigner so no great surprise. Pity though....
