Sweet! talk about a girl that won't quit. i think the game has passed
her by. but i would love to see her play a tennis match again on the
tour. it would be huge news if Monica was able to play again.
but sadly i think she would retire shortly after a comeback. it would be
nothing like her other comebacks after injuries. meaning i don't see her
having much success this time. Monica deserved to have a happy ending to
her career. but it just wasn't meant to be i guess.

Monica doesn't plan to retire just yet. New story just a few hours old...

she "retired", in the sense of being a viable slam contender, years ago.

And its all to do with her damaged sesil foot bone. she's lost so much
weight since being off the tour. what a friggin waste of talent thats
never going to see light again.
i wanted to see her get a 10th slam. and have a happy ending to her
career. if their is such a thing as a angel. Monica is one.
i never heard her say, or make a bad comment about anyone when she was
on the tour.

But in the sense that millions of fans around the world would love to see
her play again, so what?

"millions" is an overstatement. but of course if seles wants to play out
there until she's 40, that's her business. i was commenting on the impact
her failure to retire has competitively - not much.

if the pain only allows her to train "up to 2 days a week", as the> story i read says, she certainly is not going to cut it on today's tour

Well, the fact that she's still in pain after resting the foot for two
years is the real killer there.

According to her book from fear to victory
Monica gained a lot of weight because of depression not being able to
play for a long time after the stabbing. she also had a serious migraine
problem as a young teen that wasn't diagnosed til 97. and Monica kept
this to herself until 2004.
she said she didn't want it to become an excuse for losing a tennis
match. but decided to tell people about it in 2004 since she's now in
the ending stage of her career. which we all can assume is pretty much
over now. she is doing a little coaching for juniors part time.
