And he has virtually no points to defend between now and Cincinnati so his chances of staying in the top 10 are excellent.

What you people don't seem to understand is that very few people in the> world can ever hope to play tennis at the level which Andre is still> capable of doing, at the age of 35. He will never do anything as well> in his life as he does this, so why not do it a little longer?
I'm not saying he should retire. His life, not mine. Just maknig a prediction that he will.
The old Andre is getting pathetic. He obviouly is getting weak and> tire beaten> by young guns. Why Ander not retire? Is he looking for more fame?> He became a multi-milliions. He should retire and spend the rest of> life in Polynesian> or Tahiti.>
He enjoys the attention he gets from tennis, & being a smart guy knows his legacy won't stand up v colossal records of Sampras/Borg types - in 10 yrs it'll be 'oh yeah, I remember Agassi', while rst will be debating who has better record - Sampras or Nadal?
In short, Agassi would love 1 more Wimbledon - that's the only thing keeping him in the game.

How about all the players on ATP who haven't won a slam in the last 2.5 years retire? Everyone except Andre, JCF, Fed, Andy, Gaudio and Safin go home now. All tournaments can change to round robin format. Hooray!

if they're 35 and are becoming injury prone, yes, they should.

Here's what Hops posted on 1/4/2003 :
I've been hyping Gasquet, here is another youngster to keep an eye on. Rafael Nadal hails from Mallorca, is left-handed, and just won Barletta challenger, d. Montanes and Portas along the way. He is 16, just two weeks older than Gasquet, and is now ranked #114.
Hardly going through the 14 year old juniors, is it ?

Hardly touting him for slam glory. Can't count that one.
