I like Nadal, but go Coria. This result is important to make things >> interesting before the French.>
Coria broke to open the fifth. Reports from another site says Nadal has a > nasty blister on his left hand.

Nadal d Coria 64 36 63 46 76

The match lasted nearly five hours and twenty minutes with Nadal winning
only two points more during the match.

When they entered the fifth set tiebreak, the points were locked at 182-182.
Just shows how close a match it was.

Coria actually raced out to a double break at 3-0 in set five. He had
chances to go up 4-0. Once Coria failed, Nadal clawed back, breaking Coria
twice to level at 3-3.

On Coria's serve at 4-5, Nadal had a match point, but Coria held to for the
tiebreak. Nadal raced out to a 4-1 lead in the tiebreak, but Coria came back
to within 4-5. Nadal reached 6-4. Coria won a point to make it 6-5, then
Nadal double-faulted to allow Coria to level at 6-6.

Coria was never able to edge ahead in the tiebreak, and Nadal was able to
close it out, on what seemed to be a *very* long matchpoint.

Despite losing the chance to win all three TMS clay titles, this lose puts
things in perspective for Coria. He's not the best on clay anymore, but he's
not far off, either. He's still a favorite for the French and has to hope
that Nadal is seeded on the other half of the draw.

As for Nadal, this five hour, five set win has to take the wind out of the
competition. His supposed weakness was not being able to last full five tilt
sets of tennis, but he did so today against a Tier I clay courter on the
most demanding surface to play a five setter.

Something tells me, he'll go to Hamburg, anyway and simply won't play team
tennis in Duesseldorf. He can't skip both events and expect to keep his
mental edge.

Congrats to Nadal. I've never seen anyone since Agassi come on like this at
this age, and his tournaments are much bigger than what Agassi won in 88.

*Future* world No. 1? How about in a few months?

Dave
