Federer just hasn't done what Nadal has done on clay this year.
Actually, I think Becker is in awe of Federer. But it's hard to see him beating Nadal on clay, considering their hardcourt meeting in Miami, and Nadal's streak on clay.

It's the obvious choice, evidently. Still, I don't think we're giving Federer's clay ability its due. I'll stop favoring him when he has actually lost at Roland Garros.
Nonsense. Look at what Nadal has done on clay this year. Even on hardcourts Nadal is a might task for Federer, as evidenced by their last meeting, Federer was lucky Nadal choked that match away.
Nadal didn't choke in Miami, he ran out of gas. one of Federer's critical strengths is his stamina. He's going to physically wear down his opponent no matter what the surface.

I'm not so sure about Federer's stamina. I think his game is so offensive that's he's not having to run that much.
I look at the Federer v Hewitt match from last year's Wimbledon QF. Hewitt was dead tired because Federer ran him ragged. Federer was on court for a long time, but Hewitt wasn't able to make him run as much.
I really don't get the sense that Federer has outstanding stamina. I do think his game is efficient and powerful enough to sidestep the problem. Clay should be the only surface where it potentially is a problem.

Can't rule it out. If Nadal is hampered by blister/injury/mental burnout, a fresh Fed could surprise....
