She thrashed Zvonareva 6-2 6-0, gave JHH a good match, and looking through her record I notice she's often killed pretty fair players (Medina-Garrigues 6-0 6-2, Razzano 6-1 6-1, Koukalova 6-0 6-1) but at nearly 30 she's hardly an up-and-comer.
Any reason for her erratic results?

She had major knee surgery (twice) in 2002 and 2003 - before that she had very decent results as well (mainly on clay), even a WTA singles title at Makarska 1998 - she was known as Kveta Hrdlickova at the time: see her player profile at http://www.wtatour.com/players/playerprofiles/PlayerBio2.asp?PlayerID=80218

I would add to this only that I don't think she can be called a clay-courter. Her *best* result came indoors: Final at Leipzig 1999. Also had a seifinal at Linz and a bunch of indoor quarterfinals.
Peaked at #33 in singles, #26 in doubles.
I concede that her best Slam results were at the slowcourt events: two third rounds at Roland Garros, one at the Australian Open; career 1-4 at Wimbledon.

to the extent that i have ever seen anything much from peschke, it was primarily in doubles, and as i recall, mostly on clay courts (i must admit that i haven't followed her career very closely). the recent spate of singles results does seem anomalous.

You mean anyone seen her play recently, or anyone seen her play ever? I have no doubt you know she used to be called Hrdlickova. I have seen her play many times during the last 10 years, but not this year as far as I remember.
She is one of those players who has the power to rally with almost anyone, but can't do it consistently enough. I kind of liked her in the end of 90's. Then she had lot of injuries and got married. I give her a lot of credit for coming back pretty strongly at that age.

Thanks. Obviously she found a bit of consistency in Berlin. I was wondering if she was just a steady type who won on opponents' errors or a hitter who had good and bad days. Obviously the latter........
