The Venus in denial debate (was: Venus after Amelia Island quarters)

Venus, who says there is no doubt she will return to the No. 1>> ranking, says the loss was "not like her.">> "I just didn't win some of the key points," Venus said. "In the >> end,>> I rushed too many shots. I had some easy shots, I just didn't >> make>> them. That's not like me.">>
I thought that winning the key points is what this game is about.>> Is Venus in denial or what?>>
i think that you are trying to create an issue where there is > none.> there is nothing unreasonable in what venus stated, she wasn't> complaining or declaring that she was robbed, she was just stating> the case as she saw it. to me her comment sounds reasonable, so > you> are incorrect in trying to insinuate some variation of a > "conspiracy> theory" here.
Here's a piece from Wertheim's column (mailbag) I happened to stumble upon this morning
I know it's been written about a lot already, mainly with reference to Serena, but after Venus' comments after her loss to Sharapova, I just despair -- Why why why can't the sisters show just a little more grace and sportsmanship, enough to make people like me actually like them, rather than merely respect their undoubted talent? -- Chris, Oxford, England
This sentiment came up again and again. The aforementioned Pete Bodo has taken to calling Venus the "Queen of Denial." I wonder if Venus, in particular, feels that if she gave opponents the slightest bit of credit, it would amount to acknowledgement of her declining game. So she offers the usual papp about "I'll do some things differently next time" and "It wasn't her winners; it was my errors."
[end of quote]
Not just Venus, but you seem to be in denial as well. That or the world is just full of Willliams haters. It's one big conspiracy. I now sit and wait for you to accuse me of digging this up just to create another issue where there is none. Go ahead.
