Federer = French Open Champion?

No chance. There are way too many established and up-and-coming clay
court specialists out there. Federer's game just does not work that well
on clay.

fedex has a good baseline game to win it all.....
you'll see...

Dream on. His baseline play is not sufficient against clay court
specialists when playing on clay.

The only mutltidimensional players of the last 30 years were Borg and
Lendl. All others were 1 dimensional clowns. You are right here.

And you base this on...

No, sorry, silly me. Of *course you have no evidence for this...
thought, maybe, loosely speaking? We knew that. Carry on.

There is ample evidence of this. You choose to ignore it.

And that is why he won several Masters on clay, right? His game on clay is
just fine. The question rather is whether he has enough patience and
stamina for 7 best-of-five matches on clay.

You think Federer is in a constant struggle, i.e., trouble at Dubai.
That's why he won Master Series without loss of a set. Hah. Get over
it.

He beat Coria in Hamburg Masters final.

What was that all about?

Needs to win more Wimbledons/USOs - that's why he's nominated Wimbledon
as his no.1 goal this yr.

Are you really this thick or just pretending....?

Didn't he *state* the French was a priority this year?

Of *course* there is, of course...

Could you give us a preview of your general posting themes *if* Federer
(against all... evidence, is it?) were to win at Roland Garros?

He did and also mentioned the #1 ranking as a special goal but
remember that Whisper has a very selective memory. E.g. ask him
about the number of slams Federer would win..
He also keeps forgetting about the houses he owes a few people here
when he lost a number of bets.

i suspect fed will give a very good effort at this yr's FO..but i don't see
him winning it..his game is not ideally suited to clay..

if he loses it, he might be in for a long yr..if he wins it, i don't think
he'll ever win it again nor give much effort for it, and probably continue
to keep high confidence and win Ws and USOs, with AOs also..

How much emphasis should Federer put on this title? He shouldn't be
too obssessed over the RG, IMO.

He is doing a good job deflecting pressure and hype, judging from his
interviews. He will not let the media get him too much into
comparisons. It's good to not let others dictate how your career
should go. Fed's only interested in being the best he can be.

he's interested in being said in the same breath as sampras. don't doubt it
for a minute.
