.. beating agassi and roddick on US hard courts is no small feat. it validates his good results at other events.
he's definitely a guy to beat right now..

Second hottest player on tour, definitely.
Shame he won't get point for these wins, but his mental state now has to be sky high.
He's always had game; he's just not choking now, and it's nice to see.

Third, surely? Or are we assuming Safin has gone off the boil?

Hmmmm, don't know, Safin had a hard time beating Gonzalez, in moscow, on a court custom-made for him, with some mightly stinky line calls (*). Broke him once in five sets (unfortunately, that was enough to win 7-6(4), 7-6(5), 1-6 (!!!), 6-7(3), 6-4.
(*) Chair ump even had to call balls that fell long almost a foot away from the baseline because the linesmen where mute, blind, or both.

Are you trying to imitate Jaros here? Safin, Hewitt, Federer, Agassi and Roddick have won slams, so spell the names correctly. Kiefer, Ljubicic and Schüttler have not, so spell the names incorrectly. I don't think that was your intention, but it fits amazingly well...

Yes, I heard about one.
I almost choked on my breakfast when I saw that one. I mean, bad calls are nothing new, bad calls that favor the home team are nothing new, but bad calls for balls THAT grossly out is WTF material.

He has only been losing to Federer, and usually very close. You had to> > be Whisper to have Roddick as a favourite against him.>
If they played again today I'd still have Roddick as fave. You have to> go with the better player, even if they are slumping....
The Ljubicic I watched yesterday *is* the better player. Roddick played roughly to his usual standard, and got beat.
Now, Roddick has sustained this level for well over a year now, and Ljubicic has only held his for a couple of months. So I have more confidence that Roddick will continue to play at this level. But if they both do, Ljubicic is the better player.

had the good fortune to watch lubicic/clement from front row on an outside court at miami last yr, he completely overpowerd clement, was toying with him..he's a big guy, pretty big hitter..

You think Ivan will have a better career than Roddick?

I think he means head to head. It's already too late for Ivan to have a better career than Roddick.

*If* Roddick fails to improve his game - and he seems stuck in gear right now -, and *if* Ljubicic can sustain this level of play over a career (maybe even improve some things), then yes - if we're talking *future* careers, that is. But I don't see either as by any means certain.

Almost anyone beats Clement since one year.
true, the match was a foregone conclusion, but i thought ljubicic had some talent..he lost focus a bit, but i think he's a solid top 10 type player.
