No one can answer the question because it did not happen!
You can't be sure that Hewitt will win, because Sampras was serving huge, hitting the lines. Go watch Pete's match against Hewitt in 2001, Sampras ran out of gas, was very obvious, got reflected on his strokes, his serving, etc.
Don't know what you are trying to reach, but at the end you can't change the fact that Sampras record may never get broken, and this proves one thing, that he was a talent, does not matter what some one over some IP address is saying about him.
sampras lost 4 of his last 4, and 5 of last 6... including two on grass, sampras' best surface... scores included a bagel, two 6-1s, and two 6-2s.... so you know the matches weren't EVEN CLOSE... sampras was blown away...
big serves? big deal... hewitt has excellent record against big servers.. in fact, hewitt has winning record against all the big servers... he feasts on big servers...

Roddick owned Sampras too at that point (Pete never won a set prviously)> - yet 6-3 6-2 6-4 to Sampras.
Roddick played intimidated and horribly, no reason to think hewitt would have.
hewitt probably woulda won 6-4 6-2 6-1, but who knows and cares..?

Again, he had losing record v Roddick (never won a set off him), & absolutely creams him in qtrs. Also Hewitt is not as good as you think given he has only 2 slams to his name. Hewitt is a counter puncher & guys like that don't have much of a say in outcome - Sampras either wins or loses it - & the mindset he was in suggests a routine win....

Roddick was injured. I recall him saying that with other circumstances he would not had played but the Sampras-Roddick match was too juicy not to be played...

Main reasons are Sampras was way past his peak, & he never respected Hewitt as a serious threat like Agassi....
