... it seems ages since there was any actual tennis to watch at all
(apart from a couple of DC matches).
Indian Wells isn't for another whole month, and even Dubai which
features Federer, Nadal etc is another 3 weeks away.
This hiatus is reflected in the desperate nature of the some of the
posting going on here - nothing at all worth talking about ...
I'm still recovering from all the excitement of the Aussie Open. If the rest of the year is *more* exciting than the AO then we are all going to be in serious trouble

I watched some matches from Paris last week. But I have to admit I found better things to do during the SF's and F, with Daniela having lost and all... Antwerp is on this week.
With such along gap it makes me wonder if the Aussie open is too early for the
players ?
Straight after all that xmas turkey the have to prepare immediately for a Slam
?
could easily be accommodated towards the beginning of Feb maybe.
This is an age-old debate (dare I say a stale one?). January is the best time for the event, even though the players don't like it. It's summer holidays for many people at that time, in particular school children. Maybe it could be pushed back a week. That would make it four weeks after Christmas instead of three, which the players would welcome. It would still be school holidays in the first week when most matches are played, the tickets are cheapest and the event has most of its "buzz" .

Yes, a 7543 debate began only days ago. There was also a very recent GOAT
debate.
With the same conclusions. 7543 is wrong.
Links?
BTW, lately the arguments have been more over the ratings chosen than the concept. A number of people who previously wouldn't have a bar of 7543 have suggested their own ratings. So the concept of slam ratings is gaining ground in RST. It's only a matter of time before 7543 is embraced by a majority.

You mean same old, same old? A year or two ago I was a busy participant in this NG, and when I used google groups I hit the posting limit a few times.
Then I realized we're just having the same argument over. and over. and over. and over again, so there's no point. I guess I could look up my points from past years and post links to the archived articles and they'd fit neatly into the same spots, but why bother.
Apart from some discussions on current matches, this place is a broken record.
