The debt has been increased to 452 million from 265 million.
The amount owed on transfer fees to other clubs is shown again here. Amounts owed within 12 months up from 2.5 million to 37.1 million. Due after more than a year up from 4.9 million to 19 million.
These accounts highlight the fact that not only is the debt increasing but the business isn't even financing the interest bill. The charge for interest in the accounts is 43 million. The actual interest paid was 28 million. I'm assuming that this 14 million is the biggest factor in the increase in the accruals figure.
The most startling figure to me is the amount owed to parent companies. There is no audit trail from these figures as to where it has gone, safe to say it will be one of the gimps undertakings. The figure is 223 million. Yes that's 223 million of your english pounds gone.
Last point is that these accounts were signed on 26th October 2007 and were then sat on for 6 months before being filed at the last minute.
The loss was 62.57 million before a tax adjustment of 4.4 million giving a final figure of 58 million.
The interest charge was 81 million of which only 41.5 million was actually paid out,the rest is deferred.
Trading loss for the two years is 193 million.
Total borrowings are 666 million (how appropriate)
These figures are shocking.Already 10 months old and predate the credit crunch and increase in LIBOR rates which will impinge hugely on the interest charge for the current year.
If losses continue at this rate the company will be insolvent by autumn this year.

Who has more chance to *win the single match*? Reading - Tottenham Hotspurs (May 3) Milan - Inter (May 4)
(I don't like proposing the matches so early, but I'll be away.)
11 matches left (these 3, then 3 week-ends (6 matches), 1 Liga-only matchday, the UCL final), so anything (literally) can still happen, even if you haven't played so far (see Juan Vasquez's position after only one week).
My picks, in a hurry: - Barcelona - Tottenham - Milan
Rules: - Before each match begins, tell which team will win (UCL second leg only: "win" = "go to the next round"). - If your team wins, you have a hit. If your team loses, you have a miss. If you don't submit a prediction or there is a draw (not possible in UCL second leg), nothing happens.

| | Disclaimer: I'm sorry, but, when I've set up the format of the competition, I just didn't see the option about away goals (off, valid after 90 minutes, valid after extra time). You know, I didn't even ask you about this option: I just didn't see it. (The reason is maybe that it appears only after you select 2 legs, but I know I have no excuse.)
Now, at least one of today matches would have finished after 90 minutes if away goals rule applied. Again, I'm very sorry for this problem. We have two options: take the result as is (no away goals), or consider the result with the away goals rule. Let me know.

| New virtual competition (like Clashes) Milivella 03:59:50 |
| | I'd like to run another virtual tournament. I have some ideas about it, and here I tell them to you, starting with the firmest - so more unpleasant - ones.
1. I'll use esms (see the "Attn:Milivella -- Proposal for a contest" thread). Not negotiable ;) (it's the motivation that I need to run the tournament).
2. Working with a new software and seeing that shorter tournaments are better, I propose that each RSSer can coach only one team. Strongly proposed: if you want to propose another limit (or no limit at all), please explain your reasons. [I'm sorry for these first two points, but they are important enough for me to be firm about them.]
3. Having just one team per RSSer and seeing that (naturally) only RSSers whose teams have not been eliminated have an interest in tournament, I propose to run a league (not a cup). But if you don't agree, just tell.
4. Rules for the composition of teams: here you have to choose. These are all the ideas proposed so far in different threads (I hope I'm not forgetting anyone): a. All players of a certain age. b. All players playing for a nation in which they were not born. c. Each player born in a different year. d. All players with 0 caps and from the same nation. e. All players with 0 caps (different nations allowed). f. Countries beginning with the same letter g. Players with name beginning with the same letter h. Clubs beginning with same letter. i. Countries by export l. Regional teams, i.e. Scandinavia, Central America, the Andes, the Iberian Peninsula, Central Europe.... m. Nationality of surname. n. Countries by language. o. Each player with name beginning with a different letter. p. Each team would have an affiliation with a country: domestic players in home league, or foreign players in home league, or ex-pats. You can vote more than an option (e.g. "I like a and p."). I'll close the polls after one week. The rule with more votes will be played (this doesn't mean that the other ones won't be used in the future!).
To you.

Osasuna(17,40) - Real Madrid(1,75) ref: Medina Cantalejo Last year no one hit 80 pts. Real Madrid should do it this year. They have Levante and Osasuna. Subject : UEFA Champions League broadcast Question: metres run From : michael.poplawski@gmail.com A feature of Champions League telecasts is displaying how many metres the players have run during the game. Does anyone know how the measurement is made? No idea. Try e-mailing UEFA. You should get a response, eventually. I noticed Kuijt did more running in the liverpool/chelsea game than anyone else according to these measurements. I also noticed it during the game just watching. But he did a lot of running around in circles in between 3 chelsea players who were passing the ball between each other. All good for the cause, but he was NEVER going to get the ball. If they measured how many of those metres were actually useful they might be on to something.

The winner is NOT defined yet! Nice standings, a bit of a novelty for me this late into a SophCon. Me likes.
And at least I won't end up last since thankfully LIVERPOOL is out (the one of the four semi teams I had at ZERO chance of winning the final (their luck has run out, I figured, and rightfully so))!
So, given the premise that I am still one of those in contention, will I win if United wins, or if Chelsea wins...? Looking at the figures, I have a pretty good indicational idea, myself.

I've just about had it with muscle and sweat football. And teams that park the bus.
I am switching to the Lilbertadores for something different. I want to see some football. The UCL, UEFA, the Spanish league have left me hungry for football. I know it sounds absurd. Best, SMT It's been a bad year for Latin football and you're guaranteed Latin football in the Libertadores. I'll try to catch Cruzeiro vs Boca, I'd love to see Boca knocked out early.

Ciao, SM -- http://www.gourockviews.co.uk I find the whole business of religion profoundly interesting. But it does mystify me that otherwise intelligent people take it seriously. Douglas Adams
