Summary: Qatari team offered DY $4m deal last week but he has opted for ~$1m deal to play for Sydney FC for two seasons from 1 July (so he misses the CWC Aust qualification tournament and Oceania finals should Sydney get that far).
Main reasons given are: - he knows Sydney (or at least prefers it to desert living - although give us 10 years and the salinity should help even things out) - he wants to play under Pierre Litbarski.

Great news, I'm looking forward to the new structure APL, the clubs seem to be putting alot into the first season which will mean it will hoefully grab some market share from the other football codes (League, Union and Aussie Rules)

Excellent. Great news for the A-League. Pity the idiots from South Melbourne choose this weekend to riot. I was critical of the decision to exclude Melbourne's number one club in favour of a start up but these events have proven me wrong and the new Football Australia administration 100% right.
