 Chelsea 0 - 1 Birmingham
66' Pandiani

Chelsea have had all the chances so far, could have been up 3 by half time.
Pennant's back and his cross was headed into the goal area for Pandiani to
rifle home.

Still more time for the Blues to get something from the game.

Well, our last loss was in Nov (Portsmouth), and since then we've been
cruising, albeit a few draws and a dodgy Spurs decision ;)
Chelsea have not really had a *blip* this season, so yes, they have been in
it all season. So now if United finish 2nd this season, you would still say
they are out_of_it, cause I'm thinking you mean nothing but the title would
be good enough for United.>
EPL the most boring, well, sometimes it can be,>

Always France, I guess, as in the 3 other leagues there may be more> competition than int he EPL, but there still the same number of clubs> share the titles among themselves.

So you are defining boring/interesting by the points gap between the top 2
or 3 teams? And I thought you were talking about quality of football.

Oh, I don't really care about ManU though I would prefer everyone else
over Chelski - I just thought that you were still hoping for the title
for ManU.

A league to me is boring when there is no competition, when always the
same clubs win - not in one season, but over a longer period of time. I
cannot see Chelski not winning the EPL for the next few years. And I
also cannot see some other club rising to become a serious contender.
It's so difficult nowadays to close the financial gap...

And I thought you were talking about quality of football.

That's not what I meant though I must admit that I am not too excited
about the EPL's pinball style of football - too much speed, too little
imagination for my taste.

 Quoting Sven Mischkies in rec.sport.soccer:

You have a point. And this is one reason that Allsvenskan can show such
relatively high attendance figures (after all, there are only 9M of us).
The quality is obviously below-to-well-below most "real" pro leagues. But
the league has been quite open ever since IFK Göteborg lost their
relatively high European standard. The openness does, though, hurt our
European record, as discussed before.
