Donovan rumors are gaining steam. Apparently, Dallas has first claim to him, but it's unlikely that he'd want to move to Texas. The LA Times reports that the Galaxy may obtain him in return for Carlos "El Pescadito" Ruiz.

I didn't know that he was eligible to play in the CL. Was he really that bad?

Well according to the Kicker article the link to which Philip Beineke posted in another thread it seems more that Donovan himself was badly shaken by his poor performance against Liverpool, and he seems to have convinced himself that it's pointless to continue in Leverkusen. Homesickness probably played a role as well.
Ciao, Werner
There are plenty of clubs in Europe that will be Ok to have him in> their starting line up.>

If that's true, what a pity. He actually looked pretty good till the >second L'pool match. He couldn't be made of very strong stuff if he lets >a single bad performance rock him so badly. It all seems rather bizarre.
I don't know how reliable the kicker article is...the underlying point about him returning to MLS may be true, but the rest just seemed like speculation. However, I don't think his heart was ever really in returning to Europe, and he definitely wasn't interested in going there to sit on the bench, even if he said the right things.

What a wate of talent no? Like I said, he could get more play time in lot of other team i think. Unless , he misses his family, poor kid.

That's the wisest thing I've read about LD in ages. Seriously.

There's a recent Yahoo news release reporting that Donovan says he is not decided about what he will do. Contrary to the Kicker report, he says he's just frustrated with his lack of playing time, and would like to go somewhere where he will play, MLS being only one option.
The article makes it clear that Ruiz thinks he's on his way out of LA and is none too happy about it. This must be a tricky situation for Richard Motzkin, who is agent to both players.
