A Freddy Adu cross to Alecko Eskandarian opened scoring for D.C. United. Jamaican National Luton Shelton would capitalize on a mis-catch that would fall behind the United goalkeeper, allowing Shelton to collect the ball and then shot unopposed. Joshua Gros' header would give United the first leg 2-1 win.
Ricardo Martínez and Walter Ervitti scored at both ends of the first half for CF Monterrey before Víctor Muller collected a second half goal for CSD Municipal to cut Monterrey's aggregate lead to 2-1.
Los Pumas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México would convert a late handball penalty kick from Diego Alonso to cancel out Wilson Palacios' earlier goal for CD Olímpia. Elsewhere, the Kansas City Wizards and Deportivo Saprissa played to a goalless draw.

Actually, isn't the second game on delay after the first? I thought > kickoff> was about 8 EST. I could be wrong though.>
Yes, I did realized that later and I think it was a 7 pm EST start not, that it matters now, although a 8:30 K.C. start time would not have been unrealistic.
