Cricket: South Africa v Zimbabwe - Stumps on day 1 of the first test.
Zimbabwe 54 all out South Africa 340 for 3 off 50 overs (6.8 runs per over, in a test match, for 50 overs!!! - 249 runs in 33 overs after tea).
A few records set: Zimbabwe's lowest test score. JH Kallis scored the fastest ever test 50 off 24 balls (beating Beefy Botham's 26 balls against India in 1981/82) South Africa's 286 run lead after the first day is a record for a team batting second - beating the previous record set in 1896!!! Graeme Cremer (Zimbabwe) bowling figures 9-0-86-3!!!
As Cricinfo wrote "The wickets which [Zimbabwe] claimed both (sic) owed more to boredom on the part of the batsmen – all three fell trying to hammer the hapless Graeme Cremer over Table Mountain – than any cunning plan."
and
"Kallis departed into the lengthening shadows. The integrity of Test cricket had disappeared some time before that."

How did Grant Flower -- my almost namesake -- do?>
I believe Grant Flower is still not welcome in the Zimbabwean team due to not being popular with the Board of Control. Some of the banned players (Andy Blignaut for example) are back in the team - so maybe he is out for good.

NZ has had a great year. Until they made the mistake of inviting Australia over.
