Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala 1-2-3. Confirming what we Canadians
already strongly suspected, i.e. that we were in darn hard WCQ group.

Luck of the draw... it's all the luck of the draw. *shudders*

Of course, I had thought going in that Guatemala wouldn't be too
difficult, but look what happened there.

Not me, I was worried about Guatemala from the start because
a) they did really well last time, pushing Costa Rica to a playoff
b) they did us in before (1990 WC).

c) Guate. played four warm-ups in the month preceding their game
in Vancouver, while Canada entered the game having faced only one
respectable opponent in the preceding nine months.

In retrospect, I wonder what would've happened if the Canadians had
been better prepared for that match-up. From what I saw, they performed
respectably in each of their subsequent games.
