No team on the first 6 places could win this week-end. OTOH, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg (second-best and best team after winter break!) could, so the race for the international places has become even more interesting.
I divided the BL teams into 4 groups: * A (1 team): Bayern * B (7 teams): the 7 teams which are in the focus of this thread: Hamburg, Schalke, Leverkusen, Werder, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Wolfsburg * C (5 teams): no hope for international places, no worries about relegation: Karlsruhe, Hannover, Bochum, Berlin, Dortmund * D (5 teams): relegation candidates: Rostock, Cottbus, Duisburg, Bielefeld, N rnberg
At the end phase of a season, "D teams" are often more dangerous to play than "C teams" which have nothing to fight for.
Additionally, I marked the games within the "B team" group in bold face; it is evident that these games are the most important ones in deciding who will play in Europe next season.
3 (-2) - Schalke (45 points): * (H) Hansa Rostock - prediction: win * (A) WERDER BREMEN * (H) Energie Cottbus * (A) HAMBURGER SV * (H) Hannover 96 * (A) VfL Bochum * (H) EINTRACHT FRANKFURT * (A) 1. FC N rnberg => 0A, 3B, 2C, 3D
4 (+1) - Leverkusen (44 points): * (A) Borussia Dortmund - prediction: loss * (H) VFB STUTTGART * (A) Arminia Bielefeld * (H) VFL WOLFSBURG * (A) MSV Duisburg * (H) Hertha BSC * (A) Hansa Rostock * (H) WERDER BREMEN => 0A, 3B, 2C, 3D I successfully predicted a difficult near future for them and hope that Eintracht will overtake them within the next two weeks.
5 (+1) - Werder (44 points): * (A) Hertha BSC - prediction: win * (H) FC SCHALKE 04 * (H) Hansa Rostock * (A) Karlsruher SC * (H) Energie Cottbus * (A) HAMBURGER SV * (H) Hannover 96 * (A) BAYER LEVERKUSEN => 0A, 3B, 3C, 2D Now they are in a crisis. Unfortunately, their next opponent Hertha is not known for fighting 100% for every ball -- which currently is all it needs to beat Werder. As stated last week: difficult program at the end. Risk of falling out of the international places completely.
6 - Stuttgart (42 points): * (H) HAMBURGER SV - prediction: draw * (A) BAYER LEVERKUSEN * (H) 1. FC N rnberg * (A) Bayern M nchen * (H) EINTRACHT FRANKFURT * (A) Borussia Dortmund * (A) VFL WOLFSBURG * (H) Arminia Bielefeld => 1A, 4B, 1C, 2D It's do-or-die weeks for Stuttgart now. Bayern and 3 "B teams" within the next 5 games.
7 - Frankfurt (42 points) * (H) 1. FC N rnberg - prediction: win * (A) Hannover 96 * (H) Bayern M nchen * (H) Borussia Dortmund * (A) VfB STUTTGART * (H) VfL WOLFSBURG * (A) FC SCHALKE 04 * (H) MSV Duisburg => 1A, 3B, 2C, 2D The following weeks offer the chance to increase the current momemtum even more -- which is absolutely necessary, given the last games versus direct competitors for the UEFA cup places. If not, it's no serious problem. The aim for this season was "never getting into relegation trouble and 45+X points". Non-Relegation secured in March and 8 games left for 3+X missing points -- that's quite relaxing for every Eintracht fan. We have nothing to lose and could win a lot...
The most interesting games on the next match days: * MD 27: Stuttgart - Hamburg. Reigning champion with bad start, but good recent results challenges a team on a CL place. * MD 28: Leverkusen - Stuttgart and Werder - Schalke. The big day. Four out of the five "old" 2nd tier teams ("B teams" minus Frankfurt and Wolfsburg) challenge each other. * MD 29: no match between B team group, but Eintracht with the "best" chance of dropping points in a home game versus Bayern

Maybe for Day 29 but not for all the teams playing Bayern... I think Frankfurt have a much better chance to beat us at home than Wolfsburg do, for example.
Stuttgart on the other hand should expect to lose in Munich.
