tree sap

Anybody have any suggestions on how to minimize
your base picking up sap? My rock board is just
a freaking magnet for the stuff.. it makes it
feel like you are riding a bike with the front
brake on the whole time.

 Mike,

Start by cleaning with citrisol or goo gone. Put a light coat of notwax
down and then hot wax with your all temp or high temp wax. You will need to
work the base a bit more than usual as it will be difficult to get the two
to mix together. Just be patient, being careful not to overheat the base.
When riding, be sure to keep your notwax puck with you and re-apply if the
board feels like it is beginning to stick. You will likely have to reapply
1 to 2 times during the day depending on how many runs you take.

I have had the best luck with the notwax in wet spring snow. Propper
application will keep you from hitting the breaks whenever you hit wet snow
and keep the sticky buildup from becomming a problem.

Good luck.

Thanks again Sean. In fact I grabbed some non-toxic 'healthy for the
environment' citrus type cleaner and cleaned the pine tar off and did
a quick light spray and wipe on the rest of the board. Having
the night before done a double wax with a universal and then a slush
wax w/graphite I wasn't motivated to wax again! But I did touch up
with some Swix paste wax and the last two drops of my NotWax.

So far so good, I've only picked up a tiny bit of sap which didn't slow
things down at all. I think my NotWax applicator has just enough left
on it to make it the next couple of days. That stuff really is great in
the spring snow, just have to order online as nobody seems to carry it
locally here.

Cheers

Mike
