 It must be slow season...

Got to love these phrases like "freedom action sports." Is that the
opposite of imprisoned and shackled sports, something like Guantamano?

As you probably know, Salomon has been a problem child since being
dominated by adidas, especially for distributors in the US. Maybe it
will start to open up again. And not just Atomic boots; they've been a
Rottefella advertising and sponsorship partner for years. The stars
realign. It's too bad Atomic doesn't have more say in bindings, as a
longterm merger there would be welcomed by skiers.

And what about Salomon's Alpine skis that are manufactured by Fischer?
If they pull those from the Fischer Factory, it would be a big blow to
Fischer.

Now that Salomon finally had all the kinks worked out from its
acquisition by Adidas....

What an incestuous bunch.

It will be very intersting to see how this pans out. From what I have heard
about the Salomon skis, Fischer rents them the factory for a few weeks and
Salomon comes in and makes their skis. I am guessing the Fishcer does not
see them as much of a threat to their dominance so they will gladly accept
the rent check. I can't see Atomic wanting to write a rent check to Fischer
when they have a perfectly good factory of their own. They may even decide
they don't need or want the extra competition and Salomon race skis may go
the way of Toko poles, hang around for a few seasons then be gone.

I do wonder how Nathan and other Subaru Factory Team Skiers are going to
respond to the Salomon skis. Most of them have gone on for years about how
Fischer skis are the best. They all have said that others are good but that
when it comes to consistent quality, nothing beats a Fischer. Also will
Atomic want to sponsor two sets of skiers (Salomon Factory Team skiers and
the Atomic skiers)? The last thing we need here in the US is fewer
sponsorship opportunites for our young elites.

That could be tough if your feet don't fit Fischer boots.

On a side note about ski manufacturers, I looked at Zach's site yesterday> and saw the picture of Kris Freeman's skis, certainly looks like those are> NOT Fischer bindings on those skis. Has Kris switched from Fischer boots?>

Both addresses work. I think they both worked in the past too -- using
the URL w/o the file name at the end resulted in his server sending
you index.htm anyway, it just didn't show up in your browser's address
bar.
