Wait - it's absolutely accurate to judge skiers by their equipment. The
only sure way of ranking skills and capabilities.

For female skiers you count the number of feathers, furpatches, and back
embroidery on the one-piece. More is better. Females get extra points if
their glove color matches sleeve color.

For male skiers - it's similar, except you count the number of loose
straps and hard attachment points on their pack. More is better. Males
get extra points if there's something in the pack besides lunch.

A friend of mine used to keep a rubber chicken and a spare pair
of gloves in his Jr. ski patrol pack....

Skiers are not that obsessed with equipment, and it had never even>crossed my mind to judge skiers by their skis..>

A couple of years ago someone posted a useful kit-based classification:

a) Hardbores with all the equipment (if displayed on the outside of
their pack don't count on successful separation from chairlifts.)

b) Fashion victims with all the style (style is NOT compatible with
gross overweight, inept skiing, or fussy overdecorated clothes.)

c) Casual and holiday skiers wearing anything that will serve the
purpose (we don't look great but we're comfortable, and we're the ones
who are enjoying ourselves!)
