Great shots as always, but it *wasn't* untracked. Get ready for the DTs 'cause it looks like it's gonna hit hard:
URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SALT LAKE CITY UT .. NIGHT WITH SNOW BECOMING HEAVY AT TIMES. SOUTH WINDS WILL ALSO INCREASE TUESDAY NIGHT TO 20-40 MPH ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN RIDGES WITH GUSTS TO 75 MPH...CREATING CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF NEW AND RECENTLY DEPOSITED SNOW. A COLD FRONT WILL ARRIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS EARLY WEDNESDAY WITH THE SNOW LEVEL LOWERING TO 6000 FEET AND WINDS SLOWLY DIMINISHING AND HEAVY SNOW CONTINUING. NEW SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1-2 FEET WILL BE WIDESPREAD IN THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS BY LATE WEDNESDAY WITH LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 FEET.
THIS IS A DANGEROUS STORM. TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE THROUGH THE HIGHER MOUNTAINS OF UTAH AND SOUTHEAST IDAHO TONIGHT AS SNOW AND WIND INCREASE.
Now, imagine the above web-sized pic printed at full rezolution from>the raw file.>
I can make big, good looking ski posters with this camera ! ;>)>

A buddy, who is friendly with the local Nikon rep, borrowed one last Sunday. Took it into my studio space and ran off a gig and a half of test shots using my kids for subjects. At 18.5MB each, it didn't take long.
Printed one of the best at 13"x19" with my Epson 2200 on Premium Luster. Wow! Makes my D100, and my buds D1x, look kinda sad. In real world terms, print quality is equal to, if not a shade better, than what a local pro lab does with my Pentax 645 negs.
As you already know, it's pretty responsive in the hand too. Batch processing the RAWs brought my old Athlon to its knees though.
Sadly, our demo had to head back to the rep. My buddy has the bucks for one; I don't. Although, if I got rid of most of my large and medium format gear, as well as the wet lab stuff, it might work.
Enjoy it and keep up the flow of great Alta images.

Ummm, actually, for the most part, it *was* untracked (for a few minutes anyway) until I skied down and started shooting.
One advantage of being the photog is that your friends will usually let you go first for this very reason....just so *they* can be in a good powder pic. Works every time! Sort of poaching con, so to speak.
Anyway, short of an airdrop, I've have yet to figure out how to actually ski down below a fellow skier and set a photo shoot without making any tracks.
