loose bindings?

Guest 11 March 2005 16:58:57
I have a pair ot Atomic Beta Carve that work quite well but recently

I've noticed some play between the boots and bindings ie, while on the

lift, I can wiggle booth boots left to right and feel some looseness.

The tension and boot size settings are correct but I tightened the

tension a tad more to no avail. Anyone have any ideas what gives?

(no pun intended ;)

TIA

maybe the plastic on the bottom of your boots in the front & back where they lock in are badly worn out ?

I had a used pair of Atomic beta race 9.36:s a while ago. Put Atomic
Xentrix 311 bindings on them (I know, really flimsy bindings for a race
ski, but I paid for it later) and took a rather impressive fall. The
result: broken ski and knee, bent poles. Left ski was still on board
when the rolling stopped and the right one apparently separated itself
from the rest of the system only because it snapped under the rear
binding, which by the way was still closed. These bindings also had
similar symptoms, ie. I could move the boot in relation to the ski, but
the front binding wasn't yet releasing. The whole front binding twisted
in the c-shaped rail it was mounted. The idea was to be able to move the
bindisg forwards and backwards for different style of skiing. I noticed
since that the mounting in corresponding Atomic bindings had changed for
a more solid one, but I still have reservations in buying those types of
Atomic bindings again.

First, don't post in HTML, this is a text only newsgroup. On the bindings,
how old are they and how many days are on them?

No, but I'm no binding tech. Boot size settings go up and down as well
as fore and aft, though -- that could be it. I'd take it to Those Who
Know, particularly if you feel that it's changed -- could maybe be a
sign of something more serious wrong, maybe?

What kind of binding ?

On some bindings, the wings (for lack of a better word) on the toe piece
are adjustable. Sometimes they get lose and need tightening.

On Salomon binding, they just get more play between the mounting rail and
the heel piece. I'm not sure if that's fixable.
