Due to a mess up on my part I've ended up booking car hire on the French side of Basel airport as opposed to the Swiss side. I didn't realise at the time of booking (serves me right for having about 8 different screens open and flicking between them!) but due to a discount I had it works out over ё100 cheaper (even adding in the snow tyres and snow chains) on the French side.
Is there any real inconvenience in me doing this (we're heading down to Grindelwald) or am I safe just to leave it.

Any advice appreciated.
Well, you won't be able to get any duty-free, and the route to the Swiss motorway system is slightly more difficult (I only did it from the Swiss side), and I guess (unless you're lucky) you'll have to but a vignette for the Swiss motorways at CHF40 (assuming it hasn't gone up), but I think you're still quids in.

Thanks both for your replies. I'm arriving on Saturday 17th February (yes I know, UK half term!), landing in Basel at 11:20am so any advice on best routes/avoiding traffic would be greatly appreciated. We're heading down to Grindelwald.
At least I'm feeling better about the car hire now!

Talking of the Basel roadworks, that I've heard were a nightmare back in August, is it worth avoiding Basel in a fortnight's time, probably around mid-day Friday?
Where exactly are they? If entering from Riehen, can I get round them, or are they on the south side of the Rhein?
