.... or .. This ought to put another chapter in Ellyn Kestenbaums book. Weeee Doggies!
I've done it. I have 2-Steppin' on the ice. It was not hard to do at all. Vickie has created a monster.
The Basic: non-gender because the goal is to choreograph the dance, and the repeat nature of the dance is the entire dance .. not just a 6-count basic.
I'm working on line segments which I will string together as I see they fit the character of the dance. Also, I need a lot of help in choreographing the "pairs" steps. I can tell already that it is better to think of the dance as an "ice dance" rather than a 2-Step, because it will be necessary to move the Chasses off the "Basic" during certain holds and changes of direction. But keep the basic most of the time. The ladys steps are reversed and mirrored in the real thing.
and now, I'm working out a segment ( on the basic ) using XBs and RFI, LFI-SW done with power and a sharp kick. I'll get 'er done and post back
13 LFI-SW ( slow ) but kick it to bounce back 14 RFI-SW ( slow ) 15 (xf ) LFO ( quick ) 16 (xb) RFO-slideCH ( quick )
next segment has a mohawk, and you cradle the lady on the turn ....
If any of you want to work on this, remember to push the lady to the corners and come back towards the center befor you start the pivots. That's cool. Also, let her out at arms length and pull her in for the passes, but go up to the center of the "dance" floor to do the fancy stuff while the rest of us circle. I'm working on a Cross-Back Shag pivot. It works too. The lady circles on you at the center .. walking forward.
Oh yes ... " 18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses " is a solid Texas Two Step that is what should set the pace for this style. You need the heavy drum .. and 2 beers.
