My last few weeks on the ice have been stressful. I was pushing hard to reach the goals I had set for myself, and while I was reasonably well padded, I did manage to slide down a few times. Nothing seemed to bother me. Now that I'm off the ice, I'm starting to feel the results ... sore knees .. sore back ... one really sore wrist. I think the endorphens are wearing off, and I'm starting to lurch around in true geezer mode. I'm really sore. It surprises me that "runners high" is so effective in covering up injury. Stranger yet, it seems to have about a 2week latency in my case. I haven't done beans to be this sore from anything recent .. except maybe I was overdoing it last weekend ... but all of that was ice dance and a few jumps. I felt fine coming off the ice then. Weird. Wonder if joints have sinus problems? Spring has sprung here. All the leaves came out yesterday.
The current view on arthritis is that it will tend to worsen with rest, which is why it can be bad in the morning. Joint cartilage, which covers the bone, is like a sponge, and in that sponge inflammatory substances build up if there isn't movement to circulate the joint fluid thru the cartilage. Wonder if your joints may be mildly arthritic due to all that skating and gym? Disuse may not be good for you
