The most important thing is not letting your upper body during the
change: do not let it go up or sideways, whatever your legs and arms
do.

If you find you consistently turn towards the right as you drop down
to the sit try pushing back with your left shoulder (you are turning
CCW, right?) as your right leg and arm come around forwards.

Okay guys this is where I could certainly use lots of help. I can't seem to
hold that entrance position, as soon as I push onto the FO edege, the free
leg starts to creap around until I have to spin. The only way to hold ant's
locked position seems to be to use a frightening amount of lean or ride on
the back of the blade, in which case I can't get back up to the sweet spot
for the spin.

Never has a lesson on a camel so I have'nt a clue. The number one thing
that made a reasonably low sit just suddenly happen for me (not that I'm
consistant) is my funky boot lacing system, which finally allows me to bend
at the ankles. Coach still doesn't get that if you lace tight, you will
never break in your boots. I have to lace tight because of some numbness in
my foot. So, as I described a while back, I run the laces up the inside
skipping a couple of holes right at the notch and whalla, I can now bend the
ankles. So for me, the stiffness of the boots was the biggest obstacle to
sitting. I can also do a low shoot the duck again to.

Last lesson we worked out that in order to prevent my down - up - down
motion going into the sit I actually have to wind up more upright than
normal then lean into it with the free leg atleast waist high and pull the
leg down and around all in one motion. In Karate we called this an inside
crescent kick. Wow, much more speed. (If you feel like vomitting its a
better spin right??) If I try to bring the leg just around, I have to rise
on the skating knee first in order to unlock the free hip.
We'll get it

When you are in the camel your upper body is roughly parallel to the ice
and pointing in the same direction as your spinning foot. While you are
changing position, it should still remain parallel to the ice (chest is
pointing down) and aligned with the skating foot. If you manage to do this
it will be a lot harder to lose your balance during the position change.
