US: preflight check for rainfall

 If you live in the United States, there is in my opinion a very cool
web page (about the most useful Internet thing I have found besides
technical stuff).

You have to set it up once. It requires Java (I don't usually
like add-ons, but IMO this one is well worth it).

... on the left side, under Today's Weather, enter your city name

... you should arrive at your city's Forecast

... on the right side, under Radar and Satellite Images, click on
the left-hand map (probably dark)

... on the left-hand side, click on the "Loop" part of "Rainfall,
1-Hour Total Loop"

... if you have dial-up, it will take one or two minutes for all 10
frames to load

... study the last hour's rainfall and you can tell whether you are
likely to get rained on

If all goes well to that point, you can save that 1-Hour Total Loop
page on your desktop.

... File -- Send -- Shortcut to Desktop

Or just save it as a favorite/bookmark.

You can't beat it IMO for telling whether or not you will get rained
on, especially useful if you live in a rainy area.
