I've been rollerblading for over 10 years now, and I've always heard the terms 'rollerblading' and 'in-line skating' used interchangably. I wouldn't say that one term or the other really refers more to an "aggressive skater", but hey who knows? Maybe in different parts of the country it could be referred to differently. I live in Columbus, Ohio and was a Rollerblading Instructor for The Ohio State University and the cirriculum was written "Rollerblading" for the class title. Hopefully that was helpful. If anyone would like to chat feel free to email me: Matt@DecisionToSucceed.com
Our "blading" class here got moved to the ice. They even put in SportCourt, but that was unskatable, and I never see anybody using it except the volleyball players. I watched one lesson. It was nothing but a bunch of people standing there with skates on. The instructor did a lot of intellectualizing about stroking and students quit signing up. The ice skating has been OK. Girl who organized it, teaches everything including ice-dance for guy-girl couples who want to try it. They do an end of the semester performance for their exam. Our rink is still too small for full court hockey, but we are working on expanding it. We did have inline hockey during the summer, but the coach left, and the place has become a flea-market from May to October. I go up and push tables back and skate anyway.
Hi Matt, Im a 57 year old beginner quad skater in Barberton and Im taking lessons in Cleveland with a gold medalist skater, I was really enjoying pursuing skating, but now I find myself with an increasningly sore back, I have been doing some nautilaus also, Im thinking its from the bent knees and straight back that is bothering my back, Im thinking more stomache work!Any advice on becoming stronger so I can skate more? My orginal intention was to inline skate more when seasons change. Thank you Bob
