maybe i shouldn't be trying this at 1:30 in the afternoon

I think the best time to skate in Austin might be one or two hours
before sunset, when the shadows grow long and cover almost
everything.

At night, humidity takes a sharp upwards turn. In the morning, the
sun's heat eventually reduces humidity. So, if it matters, I would
shoot for that time before dark when there is no direct sunlight and
the humidity is lowest. You can use a GPS to tell you sunset times.
Otherwise, maybe a portable air conditioner would help.

Good luck and have fun.

two squeeze bottles and a refill with ice at the convenience store

Hmmm. I feel obligated to share something here, even though some people won't
appreciate it.

When you are doing serious physical activity, it is not good to use ice.
You should use room temperature water. If it is significantly hotter than
the typical room temperature, use regular room temperature.

The reason for not using hot water is obvious. The reason for not using cold
water is not. When you intake cold water, you trick your body into thinking
that it is colder outside than it really is. This can affect bloodflow, among
other functions. The change in bloodflow can cause your body to overheat
and/or cramp.

Be careful what you drink.
