Come on man. Seriously. Give it up. The dream is over. Collins, Kaino, Blackie, Holah, Lauaki, So'oialo, Braid, Newby, Gibbes, Bates, Ormond, etc etc etc will all be picked over him. The rest, fine, but enough of Thorne already.

True. All your players there are more popular. Given that's how Henry is running the show...

Could be. But So'oialo is now a "made" No 8, is playing well and offers leadership.

I think Umaga's there or nowhere.
13. Umaga (c)
Smith/Laulala
14. Gear
Dougies got a few games to climb out of the pit. He'll do it, but it might come to the trial to sort out who finally goes ahead. Howlett also offers fullback experience.
15. MacDonald
Muliaina. On top of his game there for the ABs, is one of the genuine triers in the Blues and offers centre and wing in his CV.

That was a hell of a knock he took. He was out for the 3N last year for less. I'm guessing we won't see him until later in the year. Least I hope that, his jaw is looking more and more like glass.

Dunno if Hoeft is an 80min man these days ... Still in absence of anyone else standing out I'd go Woodcock or Sommerville as well. Woodcock is a solid prop but Sommerville was looking the man until the Bulls game were he was soo CRAP - hopefully that was a one off.
2. Oliver (vc)>> 3. Hayman>> 4. Ryan

Thank you for your input Peter. Much appreciated.
No worries Klit, Who in their right mind would pick an All Black team at the moment. There's a lot of players who have the opportunity to prove themselves in the coming weeks and we have a lot of talent in the various Super 12 teams. Just watched the Chiefs demolish the Cats tonight and boy is there some talent in that team. You have to be on the puha to pick, Carl Soeft, Ryan, Thorne, and maybe Mac Donald as 2nd pick. I watched Kelleher tonight and if he keeps playing like he did tonight Marshall will be on the bench. Why don't you get your hand off it and wait until the Super 12 has finished, there's a good boy.
Can't argue with that really. However Mauger is on thin ice lately.
15. MacDonald
Ridiculous. Dr Concussion has never made the step up into the AB's. A S12 journeyman that does good for his province but he's been found out at the top. Unlike Muliaina who has always looked the goods at test level and makes very few errors. Mils by a mile.
1. Woodcock 2. Caveman Oliver 3. Mountainman Hayman 4. Robinson (Williams) 5. Jack 6. Monkeyman Collins 7. McCaw 8. Tuiali'i 9. Old Man Marshall (for the Lions) 10. Carter 11. Roko 12. Mauger 13. Umaga 14. Gear 15. Muliania
Pretty useful looking team thanks very much. Too much for the Lions methinks. Only slight concern for me is the midfield. When Mauger has a bad day...he has a bad day. ALso depth in Lock is weak. We only have four class locks in this country in my view. (Jack, Maxwell, Williams, and Robinson). And two of those are injured most of the time, and the other is starting to turn into a thug.
Gear has been useful in the midfield for the Blues before. He could be an option for a midfield spot. Mark my words. Bobs is the greatest rugby mind in the world afterall. That frees up a wing for Howlett/Sivatuatu.
Henry's particularly worried about this. Given that he wants experience, the > most likely candidate is Thorne - all those who wrote him off (including > Henry) look like they're going to have to eat their words.>

Oh peabrain. One good (home) game against some crap opposition. Even Lauaki could look good in that.
I seem to recall the Chiefs conceding a half ton not too long ago, (kind of like having the Blues watching their opposition run in 41 unanswered points).
Well, fair enough I suppose. The Hicklanders do have a pretty useful > front row. However Woodcock would be my pick over Hoeft.>
Woodcock might get to watch, that way he could see a decent prop with another couple of decent front rowers beside him. Should be a novelty for him.
4. Ryan>

Williams? Won't he have to come down from his 'roid rage' first? Say goodbye to that nutball, at least until his braincell multiplies.
5. Jack>> 6. Thorne>

Monkeyman will be off on a banana hunt. We need a real number 6, not one of those simpleton Wellington hairstyle posterboy's that got lost on his way to the warriors.
What if he wins everything without Thorne? Does that still make him a >> rugby>> god?>>
Like he did the Tri-N ? haha.
Look, as long as he selects the 'right' (most popular) players then Henry's all good. Doesn't matter that he loses, we in NZ now just like to see big scary 'hard men' and their long dreadlocks flowing in the wind like Rapunzel waiting for her fair prince....

Well he's been crap against any decent side this year.
It depends what your definition of a crap side is. Kelleher started the S12 slowly, largely due to a niggling injury and indifferent form from the Chiefs' forwards, but has been very influential in all of the Chiefs wins, including the Blues match. IMO he shared the honours with Weepu. It helps when your pack performs as Marshall found out against the Bulls when he had a shocker.

"Why" can also be used as an exclamation : hence I didn't correct it.

Gopperth may not go this year, but if the last ten years has been the Andrew and Carlos show, it's beginning to look like the next ten years could be Carter and Gopperth vying for the All Black position.
Of course, that was said about Mauger and, Paul's delusions notwithstanding, he's gone as a 1/5 contender over the last couple of years.

I think the French were legitimately scuppered. The French have never gone into a test not expecting to dominate in the forwards - that game took them by surprise, I think. It certainly took me by surprise.

Spencer, surely you jest?> >
Mehrts has signed up north so won't get the end of year tour spot. I still > > reckon Gopperth may yet get the call up.>
Gopperth may not go this year, but if the last ten years has been the> Andrew and Carlos show, it's beginning to look like the next ten years> could be Carter and Gopperth vying for the All Black position.
Gopperth has promise but so does Donald. I don't rate either in the same class as Carter, and Gopperth was found out a little bit in the Highlanders game. I see Evans as a more realistic long-term rival to Carter.
Of course, that was said about Mauger and, Paul's delusions> notwithstanding, he's gone as a 1/5 contender over the last couple of> years.
I never said Mauger was my choice as a AB 1st 5 but Henry selected him as one on the European tour last year so there is every chance the AB selectors still see him as an option again.
