Wales curiously lacklustre in the second half: final score Scotland 22-46 Wales
In all fairness to the men in blue, they played with pride and no little skill in the second half, winning it 19-8.

Yep, it was hard to see how the Scots could come back at half time but they dug deep and played well. The proverbial game of two halves and it should really have been 26-8 second half. Hard to have sympathy with refs when even the TMO stuffs it up after half a dozen replays. Would anyone here say Hines never grounded the ball?

The irony of Kaplan actually using the TMO, and still the wrong decision made. At least Scotland got the 5yrd scrum!!

I must say I didn't think was definite on the replay, and if you can't be sure you can't give it. No way was it held up though....

I do hope you don't believe this e-mail address is valid.
the "hand underneath" was IMHO a " late insertion">
"Late" as in "after the tackle" - perhaps. "Late" as in "after the grounding" - well, you only have to actually *watch* the replays. The hand is there supporting the ball *well* before it goes to ground.
I thought it was a score, too, but the video replay showed gategorically that it wasn't.

No it bloody shouldn't.
Davies was talkin from a rugby league perspective. That is not how rugby applies the benefit of the doubt.

When the announcement that Parks was being replaced by Ross a huge cheer went up around the ground. There is no doubt the everyone in Scotland knows better than Matt Williams who the Scottish OH should be. Patterson is still first choice followed by Ross. Parks is nowhere near up to the job and it's amazing he's been given such a run.
Parks will be feeling like crap today given the antipathy that was shown him on Saturday but it's kinder in the long term.
During the second half Scotland actually had some shape and started running on to the ball instead of taking it flat footed.
BTW I'm amazed that Cussiter isn't being rated as Lions' first choice and Stringer is getting first choice approval. Then again who bothers watching non England NZ games these days? I mean Dawson! Come on!

Didn't you put Parks down for the Lions......? I'd have thought Peel was looking at a Lions spot now. There'll be room for Cusiter and Dawson, not sure about Ellis now tbh. I don't rate Stringer, he crumpled during the 2nd half of the 2003 6N game against England, and he didn't look too hot against France just there, I think Marshall would have him.

HELL NO!

An excellent game against a well below par Scotland doesn't make a scrummie an automatic choice. Cussiter has been playing in a well beaten team for a long time and still oozes class.

Is this the same Cussiter who played for Scotland on Saturday ? You know the one I mean, the one who was totally outplayed in every aspect of the game by his Welsh counterpart ? A Lion ? No, you must have somebody else in mind.

I think he left the field on Saturday but it was not because he was oozing "class". Crap, more like.

The view from Hines' right hand side and slightly behind him there is a clear hand and arm right under the ball supporting it, and its point it not the lowest part of the whole assembly. Its most certainly NOT Hines' and it looks very very Welsh to me. Hines goes down and as he does he blocks any clear view of the ball even on the best angle. You certainly cannot see any hands coming loose, and the angle is most suggestive that that hand and arm was still there. More telling is Hines has his arm wrapped laterally round the ball and in front of it and when he hits the deck does straight down and the top of the ball does NOT appear to roll forward at all. You certainly cannot see it grounded from any of the angles given. He may well have done though.
However, thats enough to give doubt for that No Try call. Harsh, but thats the way it goes. Once you start giving technology a look in then you have to be even more specific as it gives you these fleeting glimpses. I've lost count the number of tries Ive scored but to have disallowed as the ref cannot see grounding even when they are right next to the ruck/maul alike. The technolgoy gives you even more chance to instill doubt and thats pretty much what happened here. Had the camera not been there it would have morelikely been a simple Unsighted call, or a best guess....but had that best guess given a Scottish try and Id been the Welsh player with an arm under it Id have been annoyed with a best guess. It certainly sours things when refs do that at grass roots and assume the player must have made it when you did get your arms under it and prevent grounding....
