He is not to be charged due to "insufficient evidence".
WTF is that about. Did they not watch the Sky tv pictures? I'm sure
that there are some Broncos fans who can provide the video for them!
It's a joke.

Disgraceful. The most blatant trip I've seen in 45 years of watching rugby
league.

Unbelievable. It just gets worse and worse each season. Or is it that they
just feel sorry for Wigan and their mounting injury list?

It's a disgrace. Can't work out what more evidence they would need. Maybe
we ought to get the RFL to employ Quincey. He'd find some evidence.

John.

Apparently as there were no studs were left embedded in the players head,
it couldn't have been a trip. The video panel was made up of Ray Charles
Stevie Wonder , Dave Oddie, and Uncle MO, it was shuuurely the correct
decision.

Completely vindicates the ref`s "on report" decision

What a travesty of justice it would have been if the ref had
believed his eyes, and actually sent the player off!

Thank God that never happens nowadays!

My view is that he may have started to go for the man but then tried to
pull out of the way and then the challenge looked or turned into what
may have appeared to be a trip. Or am I being too generous to
Aspinwall?

Anyway , the Broncos won at a canter so no harm done either way?

He wasn't ruled as no case to answer though, it was insufficient
evidence.

Yes, that's exactly the point, the "RFL Video Committee" is there to
rule on availability of evidence, not guilt or innocence - that's the
job of the Disciplinary Committee, if the case is referred to them. See
here:
http://www.rfl.uk.com/Templates/RFLDefault.asp?modeID=Content&uID=124

I have emailed the RFL offering them a copy of the Sky transmission. I
just re-ran that section of the tape. The incident is shown from no less
than SIX camera angles! I wonder how many they need to provide
"sufficient evidence"?

Agreed, I've just watched the clip again and am convinced this was a
deliberate attempt to hamper the kicker. I think from his positioning that
the touch judge did well to note the offence, but the ref seemed to be
looking in the wrong direction, but then he never does impress me.

Cheers,>Jeff.

It used to be nice and straightforward - tripping = sending off. For
some obscure reason that rule was amended since when I've seen much
more tripping at all levels of the game.

I would assume that there was some logic in the changes but can't
imagine what it was.

Looking at it as an impartial observer he lifted the leg with a bent knee
and hit the player lower midriff , now it is pretty clever to trip someone
by clouting someone just at the top of the thigh.

Clever maybe, but it certainly appeared to have the desired effect.

Pretty close to a kick in the stomach then.

I've had an acknowledgement of my email from Stuart Cummings' PA and
await a reply, possibly within a week. I certainly hope that this issue
doesn't cause Stuart any undue stress.
