Tomorrow afternoon Alexandria Rugby's Select First XV rugby team

will depart for Dundee, Scotland to compete in the inaugural Mayor's

Cup Challenge Match this coming Saturday against the Lord Provost of

Dundee's Select First XV. This match is intended to be the first of

many annual, premier level matches between these two sister cities.

The first rematch is already being planned for May of next year here

in Alexandria.

Please join Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, the Alexandria Rugby Board

of Directors and membership, and the citizens of the City of

Alexandria in congratulating the following men for being selected to

this historic squad and wish them well in their exciting and honorable

quest.

I have been part of the fundraising committee for the Alexandria

team, our purpose for existence is to raise the awareness of rugby in

the City of Alexandria Virginia (a part of the Washington DC metro

area) especially with youth grades for inner city kids. Anyone living

in the Dundee area, we would appreciate your support on Saturday to

help this inaugural event become part of Dundee's calendar as well as

our own. Any players out there, there's a trip to the States next year

if you are able to make the Dundee select side.

The word is that the Dundee folk, in keeping with fine Scottish

tradition, have selected a side of mainly Kiwis, Aussies and Saffers

to defend their keep, so it should be interesting. I won't be there

but if you go say hello to Ram Todd the Alexandria coach, a good

Hawkes Bay lad, and tell him Dave sent you...
