I'm a white guy who enjoys soccer more than the NFL. I like Mexican food
and culture, in general, to a large extent. If the fight were a cultural
resistance to Mexican influence I would say open the borders wide and let
'em all come.

But that's not what it's about. First off, our economy is being devestated
by illegal immigration. We're losing good jobs, not just the jobs that
Americans won't take. In NC, middle class people in agriculture,
construciton trades, landscaping and manufacturing are being forced into
poverty by people who are here illegally and employed illegally. One third
of our prison population , nation-wide is made up of inmates who are in the
country illegally in the first place (because they've committed vilolent
crimes, not just becaue they illegally crossed the border). We have
hospital emergency rooms completely congestsed with illegals, depriving
access to the citizens who pay taxes. We have school classrooms being both
crowded and forced to provide bilingual education.

I'm not alone in my resentment of our government's unwillingness to prevent
illegal immigration and to kick the illegals out. I believe that there is a
huge political groundswell that will manifest itself in future political
elections for years to come.
