Details On TNA Possibly Signing A Huge TV Deal

~~ 3 May 2005 02:58:51
 [Source: PWTorch]

-- Multiple sources in TNA have been saying that the company is on the
verge of announcing a huge new TV deal in the United States. The
announcement could come within the next couple weeks, however they are
bound in a confidentiality agreement and cannot detail what it is to
anyone yet.

-- Most expect that since Spike TV has not expressed too much
interest, TNA has struck a deal with WGN. WGN has been brought up in
the past as the fallback plan if they couldn't reach an agreement with
Spike TV. WGN was once a "Superstation" like TBS, however due to lack
of new and original programming, they have dropped in popularity.

-- It's possible that TNA could get a great deal with airtime on WGN,
meaning a Monday night primetime slot in the hour preceding WWE RAW.
There is also the possibility that they could run a two hour show,
with one of the hours overlapping RAW.

Which would explain that WGN is part of the basic-basic cable package. You
know, the package that cost about $10 a month where you get WGN plus locals,
cable access, and CSPAN.

I'll say this for the 100th time, they will never succeed with a moronic
name like TNA... never.

Unless they find a better booker, they aren't going to survive,
period. They have some talent, but aren't using it well. And JJ as
your main event, scary...

And WGN is basic cable here, so I'd be able to see it...

I like it...

What's so bad about TNA? Half the people probably don't know what TNA stands
for anyway.

Maybe where you are, but not everywhere. WGN used to be that way in most of
the country, but it (and WWOR from NYC) have dipped in carriers over the
last decade or so by quite a bit.

WGN was dropped by a lot of carriers once WB (of which WGN-TV9 is an > affiliate) began adding affiliates in more cities. WGN now sends an > altered feed to cable/satellite carriers that doesn't include WB network > programming.>

see i thought that wgn used to be a UPN affiliate, doesnt matter we get WGN

When I lived in CA about 9 years ago, we had WGN & KTLA (TV-5 in Los > Angeles) - which were/are both WGN affiliates. Not that WB had

I kind of miss those days - between WGN, TBS, KTLA, & a couple of

that's like here between TBS,WGN,and the locals outta houston there is
always a decent baseball game to watch during the summer.

I don't think so. I think they've only had two or so shows in the
Chicago area ("Chicago Ridge" or something). I'm pretty sure
they're East Coast-based. Or Pennsylvania (which is "East Coast" to
me).
