WWe nWo Does Low PPV Buyrate

The Love Child Of Amy Dumas And Adam Copeland 21 March 2005 20:30:40
No Way Out last month only did around 210,000 buys (or a .38 buy rate)
making it one of the lowest drawing WWE PPV's in history. The final numbers
will probably be closer to 230,000 - 240,000 when all the numbers are
calculated.

I can't even remember No Way Out. Was that the JBL/Big Show cage match
one?

Seriously, I can barely remember.......so hard to differentiate them
from each other these days...

Didn't JBLNazi say he sells Pay Per Views?

More like "gives away."

And even then, people don't want it.

Why he's lasted so long as champion is beyond my ability to comprehend.
He is clearly a huge failure as a drawing name. And basically, the rest
of the SD! roster suffers as a result, since they're all cast in HIS
shadow as long as he's champ.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Eddie Guerrero should still be
champion. The pop he got when he won the title was unreal and crowds
continued to love the guy after. If he couldn't handle the pressure that's
understandable but giving the title to JBL was Vince McMahon's dumbest
decision ever. Dumber than the XFL. Dumber than bringing in Goldberg in for
a year. Just really stupendously dumb.

Unfortunately SD ratings are up marginally from last year. As are> Raw's but that doesn't figure into Vince's head at all.

Ok. So JBL and SD! can give it away, but not sell it.

Still, that's a really bad place to be. Especially financially.

He's right-winged and he goose-stepped in Germany but, come on,
JBL has been a good champ all things considered.
p.s. Nothing was dumber than the XFL.

That's what I thought until I stopped to think about it last
summer/fall.

JBL had pretty much failed as a drawing champ. Eddie couldn't
handle the "pressure" of being champ. Big Show was out with an
injury. It was unclear if Angle would be going away with another
injury or not.

The only other options would be to put another midcarder as champ,
which would also fail without proper (multi-month) buildup to turn
the fans' perception of the midcarder into a main eventer. Rather
than have a bunch of different midcarders fail as champ (and
therefore damage their rep for ever being able to draw in the
future) WWe decided to just have the one failure (JBL) while they
(1) get Big Show off the DL and start a push for him, (2) get Angle
off the DL and start a push for him, (3) educate Eddie that there
really isn't any "pressure" in being the Smackdown champ, or (4)
spend months turning a midcarder into a main eventer.

They think they've turned Cena into a main eventer, so he'll be
getting the title at Mania. Show and Angle are also off the DL and
can have a program written to put them in the world title mix in the
next month or two. In the meantime, they should try to build up
another midcarder or two.

Plus, Orton and possibly others will be jumping from Raw in the
posy-WM draft.
