WWE NOTES & NEWS ON ROB VAN DAM, STEVE AUSTIN, CHRIS BENOIT, ECW ONE NIGHT STAND AND MORE by Mike Johnson @ 9:15:00 AM on 3/10/2005
Rob Van Dam updated his official website with an announcement that Chris Benoit will be signing at RVD's California comic book store during Wrestlemania week, several upcoming appearances, and more. Van Dam is trying to keep busy while rehabbing his knee injury.
Van Dam was recently interviewed by Georgie Makropoulos over at www.WrestlingFigs.com. He noted that during his debut run with WWE (the Invasion storyline), he was distinctly told not to look at the crowd. He noted that it will be about six months before he can work.
In regard to the ECW One Night Stand PPV, Van Dam said, "I will definitely be at the show, if it does indeed happen. I say that because I have not spoken to anyone since I've been off on this. The Pay per View goes down, you better believe it will be all old school ECW action! WE won't let it happen any other way." His comments echo the feeling I've heard from a lot of former ECW talents, many of whom are gearing up in a big way for the show as a way to pay tribute to both the company and the fans who kept it in business for so long.
Steve Austin will be appearing on CBS' The Late Late Show on Tuesday 3/29 to promote Wrestlemania 21. He will also be making an appearance on Live with Regis & Kelly building up to the PPV as well.
Planet Hollywood now has an alcoholic beverage named "The Scorpion King" on their drink menu, in tribute to The Rock's first full feature film.
