[WCW] Admit it #17

Butters333 6 March 2005 11:20:02
When Benoit won the title at Souled Out 2000, you marked hard. When you
tuned into Nitro the next night, you screamed WTF!!???!

You also cried that night because that was the one point in WCW history
where the championship roster read: Brian Knobbs, David Flair, Crowbar and
Ed Ferrara.

I marked more when he showed up at the house of Vince.

One of them (Benoit?) saying when Malenko, etc. showed up that they
would have people watching them now. Ouch. I also feel bad for Arn
Anderson that he had to do the announcement on Nitro, as he had been
with Chris Benoit in the Horsemen. It was sad. WCW went on, actually, I
marked hard for the brief time between the Russo reigns when it went
totally oldschool.. it was never boring, but yeah, those guys were a
lot of the heart of WCW.

My big moment, however, was when I saw Chris Jericho debut on RAW. That
paved the way, and after seeing him going wild in WCW, getting that
huge intro on RAW, you just knew somthing was coming. Jericho (despite
his detractors) is a great wrestler and has had some good stuff in
WWF/WWE, hopefully much more to come. Plus he is creative as heck.

As for Sid, he's another guy I find more entertaining than some of his
detractors would say. He was always credible, always stepped up when
WCW had a role for him, always was intense. He had a wonderful run in
WCW up to the end, and I hope he is well now and having a good time of
things.

Not sure if the pop that night was for Chris, or for the verbal beat down he
got from Rock.

-As much as I hated to see it happen at the time, there was no way I
couldn't watch Raw and see what was going to happen with my favorite
wrestlers. It didn't translate into long-term viewership, in the sense
of the WWF product as a whole just wasn't where I was at and nothing I
saw on those first few shows with the Radicalz in the company made me
want to watch every week. I just continued watching WCW, trying to catch
Benoit's matches as much as I could without actually watching much of Raw.

Most of the crowd didn't know who he was.

Wrong as usual. The crowd pop for when Jericho's name popped on the
titantron was huge.

Um, then why did they pop huge for the word "JERICHO" on the Titantron?
But by the end of the promo, even though the Rock was dressing him> down, he had the crowd chanting "Go Jericho, Go! Go Jericho, Go!".

They chanted "Go Jericho, Go!" partway through his promo, when he
intructed them to... this was before the Rock dressed him down.
