There is difference between national integrity and colonial possessions.

England and Scotland have never fought each other within a united single
nation, unless you count the majority of Scots who backed Charles I
against Parliament.

I was using a political definition of a nation as a kingdom of Great
Britain, established by Act of Union in 1707. This would make the
subsequent Jacobite rebellions in Scotland (and kinda sorta in Wales in '15)
civil wars. The British reaction to those rebellions was waaaaaaaay more
intense than the anti-American efforts in 1776.
