Solarez

Anybody using this stuff? I scraped off the paint for about six inches on
the nose of my board with my mast on a catapult. I assume even though I can
see the underlying fiberglass it is not going to leak since there seems to
be no damage.
Would I just apply a very thin layer of Solarez and paint over it?

I uswed it to repair a board that had a quarter-sized hole in the rail
of my brand new Open Ocean. It happened when I was at Doug's Beach so
I simply tossed the board into the van and drove the ten minutes to
Brian's shop. He ran a hair dryer over it for a few seconds then
applied the Solarez to it followed by clear tape to make it conform to
the board and contain it. When I asked him how long it would take for
it to set he said it would be set by the time I got it in the van.

Lasted for the rest of the lofe of the board.

Make sure you use the type that is for Epoxy or it will eat the foam in the
core of your board. See the boardlady site for details.

Applied Solarez to a nose ding. It lasted a few years (3?) but lost its
grip. Fortunately, it was clearly visible that it no longer sealed the
hole. The wife broke the repair off with her finger nail. I would consider
Solarez is a great product for getting you back on the water quickly, but
not a permanent fix.
