Snapped lines

Sean 1 June 2005 04:11:54
I snapped my lines that connect the bridle to the sail. I have tried
everything to fix them, but the kite just will not fly. I am new to the
kite thing, is there something that I am overlooking? I have been very
diligent about making sure the lines were the right lengths. Any help would
be awesome.

Thanks

You must get very little to be in awe of "any"!

When you say you have tried everything to fix them, what have you tried?
have you measured the existing lengths and replaced them, or tried to
fix the existing lines?

I measured the matching lines from the other side of the kite and replaced
the broken ones with matching line. I also replaced all of the line on that
side of the kite making sure lengths were all correct. Any other advice?

What sort of kite are we talking about here? A single liner? A dual or
quad line sport kite? A dual or quad line power kite?

Did you use the same type of line for the new bridles as the original?
If you used ordinary nylon line to replace Dacron/Spectra lines they
could be stretching under load (depending on the type of kite and the
loading placed on it).

I think we are going to need a bit more info before we can give
conclusive answers.

The kite is a dual line sport kite. I used the same line as that which was
on it originally. I don't know what kind of line it is, but it came with
the kite.
