| | I don't know much about it other than the person died after hitting his head
on his mast Friday. It was blowing solid 3.7. Perhaps he was knocked out and
drowned. I understand there were a lot of people on the scene trying to
revive him.
Does anyone else know more ? We were at The Wall.

Got an order confirmation number and all.
Called 'em just now to try to find out why the lines never came.
Guy seemed a little bent out of shape over it.
"Windsurfing Hawaii's been out of business for *years*, we don't
have *anything* by them."
"Well, the harness lines came up on your web page, your system
accepted the order, took my credit card number, and issued a
confirmation. How about I give you the order number?"
"Doesn't *MATTER*.... you found a ghost page in the server...."
"Well, it'll matter if my credit card gets dinged and I don't
have the lines.... How about we check the order?"
(heatedly) "You'd better have some proof before you make
accusations like that"...
"Oh well...."
Been buying stuff via web pages for quite a few years now.
Came across a few losers, but never anything like this.
Seems like the guy was distancing himself from "the web
server".... and "ghost pages"..... like it wasn't his
responsibility.
I guess it'll all out OK.... but sheesh!....
Heaven forbid I should order something else from these guys and
need to check on the order...
Having gotten that off my chest....
Anybody have any leftover adjustable WSH harness lines,
size=large? aka "24-29 Inch Adjustable Hard Ones"

| | Someone gave me a Pryde 6.2 he was having trouble getting the mast into.
The sleeve was blocked about 6 inches from the tip. I opened a
slit about 2" long and found an inner sleeve (synthetic cloth?) had
been fouling the sleeve and blocked the mast. I cut away some of the
inner sleeve and now the mast goes all the way in. What next? What is
the function of that inner sleeve? I can't believe any manufacturer
would bother putting in a part that doesn't show if it doesn't have some
function. TIA

Wish I was there. I did buy The Windsurfing Movie DVD from Sideoff & I
love it! I keep raving about it to my friends, even non windsurfing
ones. The opening sequence where he does that jump is fantastic and
really sets the tone for the whole movie. The photography is excellent
with a point of view that really puts you into the action. Plus it
tells a story of the lives of the windsurfers involved. My one change?
Leave Sympathy for the Devil off the soundtrack as I don't have sympathy
for the devil.

Jerry, you are smart enough to recognize that Snuf dodges questions he
doesn't have answers for or accusations he can't refute, but not smart
enough to figure out that he is having a ball with you. He blathers
just to watch you respond - over and over and over and over. Mike and I
are trying to tell you that if you don't want to read his garbage (sorry
Snuf, no offense intended), don't respond, or limit your response to one
good zinger and leave it at that. For a lot of us, it does look like he
owns you, and you don't get it.

| | I was driving down the 101 yesterday and saw some guys kiteboarding. I
noticed i was just north of main street in ventura. It looked like
there might be some camping nearby...does anyone know of a good URL or
have some good local knowledge about this place?
I have been trying to find a good spot to beach camp somewhat close to
LA that would have some good windsurfing. Maybe some surfing in the
morning and windsurfing in the afternoon with on the small side waves
for intermediate skill level.

| | I am recently seeing trouble with the green start button on my waverunner. I
have to push the green button about 5-6 times before the engine starts and I
hear no noise at all. Previously the engine would fire up on the first try.
This is the second summer of use and have 55 hours on it.
Is this normal? Any ideas? Could the starter be going bad? The battery has
been charged and there are no LED indicators of any issues once started. If
I stop and start again it fires up on the first try.

took the 1996 waveraider 700 in the lake today and here is what
happened:
rode it about ten minutes, then it started to die. it NEVER spit or
sputtered, just died. felt as if the kill switch key had been pulled.
when i try to restart it does one of the following everytime:
will start then just die or will continue to start and start and start
but never crank over or lastly sometimes you can push the start button
and all you hear is a clicking noise in the fuse box area (after
pushing the start button about twenty times it will finally go back to
trying to start and all the symptoms above start again)
we checked for spark on the plugs and both will fire. we poured gas
directly into the carb and it will start up but when it burns out, it
dies. checked all connections and they seemed fine.
please help guys, i am at a lost and can t afford $60 an hour at
Yamaha. Thanks

I was in Sardinia windsurfing and sailing for a few weeks last summer.
the conditions at porto pollo are generally pretty flat - there are two
bays to choose from. depending on the wind direction, one is usually flat,
and the other has a bit of chop or small waves.
