How is the wind in South Padre> during this time, and is a wet suite adequate or is a dry-suit> necessary? Is Corpus a better bet?> That's really hard to answer except for the steamer part- for most anywhere in the Laguna Madre mid December the wetsuit (even a shorty often) will suffice. The Gulf and the Bay are usually cooler than the Laguna here in Corpus. The best winds will be with cold fronts- the colder the stronger the North winds it seems to me. Air temps vary widely 40's (those cold fronts)to 70's (most sunny days), often its 60-65 and cloudy. Between fronts its most often SE 12-20 except for the day after a front leaves- those are good laundry days. Those N & NE frontal winds offer pretty good wave sailing in Corpus (try the new jetty). South Padre is a little over 100 miles south of here (but you'll drive more than that to get there). I doubt the conditions are much different on either end of the island but the two ends differ in their styles. If you go to iwindsurf, and the archives for the Laguna Shores sensor, you can look at several years of December wind speed & direction data for the Corpus end of the Laguna LooseClu
