Do-It-Yourself-SemiTinkler Tail?

Guest 25 September 2006 05:17:24
Not enough wind... too much coffee... but here it is:

I've got a board that has all the planing surface in the world... but has wave
rocker.

I love the board and it's exactly what I want much of the time.

But on marginal days, it's "sticky" and I'm The King Of Schlog.

Can't help thinking that if it could have a straight rocker line on those days
that it could save me from lugging around a third board.

Has anybody tried making a tape-on wedge that negates all or much of a boards
rocker?

Don't do it. I once turned a perfectly good wave board into a 20lbs dog
because I had a similar idea. It may work, but the benefits will
probably hardly offset the extra weight.

Not that it answers your question, but ... Buy a user board with similar
outline and straight rocker behind the mast track. Prolly 2-300$ ?

"Tape-on wedge" - the visuals bring forthe a Jeff Foxworthy kind of
solution - or maybe Red Green, if you know his philosophy. ;-)

Cheers

Hey, Pete, I'm picturing something that must be fairly strong and
tapers down to nothing in the front; do you have a plan about how to
build this?

Not even a clue. The fragility factor was the first thing that occurred to me.

I think Florian has me talked out of it..... that and the caffeine wearing
off...

Sounds interesting. The pic doesn't tell much.

Is it sort of a super fin - i.e. one with a horizontal foil as well?
