Unless I'm reading something wroing, it looks like the NHL playoffs will be - - Eastern Conference Montreal vs Boston Pittsburgh vs Ottawa Washington vs Philadelphia NY Rangers vs New Jersey - Western Conference Detroint vs Nashville San Jose vs Calgary Minnesota vs Colorado Anaheim vs Dallas. (The only remaining game--Anaheim vs Phoenix--won't change the rankings. I'm posting at 5:00 in the afternoon.) I think in the quarter finals - Montreal will sink Boston 5 gmaes
Pittsburgh will sink Ottawa Ottawa in 6
Philadelphia will sink Washington 7 games
Rangers will sink New Jersey 6 games
Detroit will sink Nashville 5 games
San Jose will sink Calgary Calgary destroys San Jose in 6
Minnesota will sink Colorado in 6
Anaheim will sink Dallas in 7
That will give us semifinals of - Eastern Conference Montreal vs Philadelphia Pttsburgh vs Rangers Ottawa vs NYR
- Western Conference Detroit vs Anaheim San Jose vs Minnesota Calgary vs San Jose
I think Montreal to sink Philadelphia Ottawa in 6
Pittsburgh will sink the Rangers Ottawa takes NYR in 5
Anaheim will sink Detroit Detroit in 4
Minnesota to sink San Jose Calgary in 5 against San Jose
That gives us finals of Montreal vs Pittsburgh Ottawa in 6 against Montreal
Anaheim vs Minnesota Calgary takes out Detroit in 6
I think I'm going to toss a coin and give the Eastern to Montreal Western confernce will go to Minnesota Stanley Cup would be Montreal vs Minnesota. Based solely on what I'd like to see, Stanley Cup goes to Montreal. Motreal in 7 vs Cowtownia. -- Member - Liberal International This is doctor@nl2k.ab.ca Ici doctor@nl2k.ab.ca God, Queen and country! Beware Anti-Christ rising! | a strange final day Roy A. Fletcher 22:58:43 |
| | the strangest final day ever.
Pittsburgh didn't dress Crosby and the rest of the team didn't play. They'd have had better effort if they'd dressed the equipment manager and the office staff. First place in the east was at stake (and guaranteed home-ice advantage) and the Penguins weren't interested.
in the west, Dallas and San Jose pounded each other in a meaningless game.
and Phoenix and Anaheim played gentleman's hockey for the crowd. 77 shots, two penalties (the second was Pronger just trying to get on the game sheet late in the game). no effort in overtime and a half-hearted shoot-out.
Usually the final days strategic losses are obvious. This year there is nothing obvious about any of it. Makes a betting man nervous.
Regards. RAF

By my calculations, no matter what the outcomes tomorrow, Montreal plays Boston in the first round. The Canadiens' GM has to like that. Boston has been inept against CHC. Any GM will gladly take one loss to get one extra home game. Just about. Thomas will probably steal one game for the Bruins, but I can't see this series lasting longer than 5. The Bruins just don't have the goal scorers to hang with the Canadiens. When Marco Sturm is your leading goal scorer, you're in trouble.
