WHat is it about motor racing?

if females can truly be as good as men in any sport, then why is there not a
single female on the PGA Tour?

Who says they can be as good at any sport? You think a woman will ever
play MLB, NFL, NBA? Men are inherantly stronger and faster, as much as
the feminists would have us believe otherwise.

FWIW, it was a help to Danica that she is almost 100 lbs lighter than
all the other drivers. The empty cars are required to weigh the same.

Not all the other drivers. A few of the other drivers are in the 150-165
weight class, and probably most average about 180. Some of them are over 200
lbs.

Drivers have been complaining about the lighter drivers for a long time. In
NASCAR racing, the total vehicle weight is equalized so that lighter drivers
do not have an advantage.

I would not say "very few." There were several 200 lb Indy Car drivers
complaining about the rules. In NASCAR, they equalize the weight of the cars
to take into account driver weight. Not sure about F1.

Kudos to her for a great finish for a rookie....

However, she said in her pre-race interview that her advancement in auto racing
was helped because of her "good looks".....did she sleep with Letterman to get
her into that car? What kind of statement is that?

I can just imagine if this broad won the race....."Dont hate me cuz I won the
Indy 500....hate me because I'm beautiful!"

I think you'll find the average weight of a top level race driver is around
150-160. There are very few large drivers in high-end cars for just that
reason.

There is not a single IRL driver or F1 driver over 160 lbs. if you are too
big you can't physically fit into the car. If you look at ALMS, DTM, or even
NASCAR drivers, closed bodied cars, no one is close to being 200 lbs. the
physical condition that these drivers are in would not allow them to be up
around 180 or 200. the weight difference between Danica and the rest of the
drivers gave her no advantage. Look at speed world touring, a series where
winners are forced to carry more weight the next race, the same guys win
every time. Oh and btw, Danica is listed at weighing 100 lbs, which makes
her around 37 lbs lower than the IRL average.

As pointed out by others, your information is wrong. Some drivers are 200
lbs. In addition, for NASCAR they equalize the weight of the cars with
driver in it, so there is no advantage to a lighter driver.

For a 100 lb weight savings, there is a about a 1 mph advantage at top speed
around the Indy Speedway.

Hey Bret. I think Tony Kanaan would look pretty sick at 100 lbs
instead of 200.

I got it !!!! Let's spomsor a car and get Pflum to drive it !

Agreed. 50 - 60 lbs is also significant.

Tony Kanaan and Sam Hornisch Jr are both over 200. Both were in the
mix for quite a while yesterday.

Some females can be as good as some males. But your statement is silly - does
anybody believe that females can be as good as men in any sport?

One racer complained that women have an advantage in auto racing because they
are smaller. Sounds like some of the sexist whining I've seen about women
competing with men in the PGA. They've always been able to hire jockeys to
drive race cars. If you are going to play the best - you've got to be open.
