Hey, the weather had to better this year! We had Thor and Tex together. And for the most part, it was great. A little chilly and spitty in the mornings, but once Thor was on the course we were golden! I think some even got sunburns on Sunday's back nine.
Mike Bowen won the ugly sweater contest at the Saturday night Beer Exchange. Pictures to follow. Anyone remember Fruitstripe Gum? Emphasis on 'fruit'.
Ken Pitts won the grudge bet for his trainer, Greg Schoenberg....Ken played very well as I saw him briefly go -1 or -2 in the early stages of a 79 Saturday at Canyon Lakes where he 3-putted about 4-5 times. The greens there were the most difficult we played all weekend. And I didn't do Tex any favors in the Alternate Shot round where my game was a disaster and we lipped out about a half dozen putts. Congrats to Ken....well played.
The highlight winner of the weekend had to be John VanderSchalie. A single birdie on the short par 3 16th hole was the only to beat the field on any hole and won him the entire $108 gross skins pot....maybe enough for a 1/2 tank of gas in the camper van, eh? As if that wasn't enough, John also won six net skins within his group and another $9. Drinks are on vanderbagger next year.
RSGNW 2005 was a blast. I love putting it on. Thanks to all of you who traveled long distances to be here....especially those who flew in - Bob Patterson (LA area), Mark Georg (Pittsburgh, PA), and of course, The Mighty Thor (Columbus, OH). Really enjoyed match on Sunday pm. Thanks for dinner on Saturday also. It was a blast hanging out with you and Mark and Mark and the Bunnahhahahbbbahhahaain.
Participants.....please feel free to post any weblinks to pictures or share other anecdotes.
Congrats to Joey for representing all my homeys and bringing the trophy back to Whitman County where it hasn't been since 2002. If you haven't heard, chicks dig the long ball. Another one sneaks up from the B flight to win it all! And to think this cat was complaining all weekend about his tournament-director-imposed 18.0 handicap index. Next year, "CINCO"!

I really hit the ball too well to have ended up with 79 Saturday morning. The 5 3putts were a big part, but I lost at least 2 shots due to poor sand play. I still could have had a good round when I made it to our 13th hole (#15 - par5). I was in the bunker close to the pin in 2 and walked away with a bogey. A few more bogeys to finish and that is how you turn 74 into 79.
Still it was gratifying to hit the ball well on the golf course since I have been playing very little for months now.
Thanks for everything.
Ken
