Last year I played with a TM 360xd stiff flex and was hitting everything straight or draw. Went to golf galaxy over the winter and it showed I actually hit it longer with a regular flex. So this spring I buy a Mizuno MP001 with reg flex aldila NV shaft. Start of the season I has hitting slight fades and more recently it has become almost a slice. Is it possible that the flex of the club is causing this? I mean, could there be too much torque on the shaft causing it to remain flexed during the downswing and causing the slice? I am not slicing my 3 iron or 18°?

Please help.
Sure it is possible. The flex in the shaft could be preventing the clubface from squaring up by the time it strikes the ball. Not all "regular" flex shafts are the same, especially when you talk about graphite.

Whilst playing with my Father earlier this year, I went to pull the head cover off my driver with it still in the bag and busted the shaft. I finished the round - as well as two subsequent rounds - with his brand new G-2 with a senior type flex shaft. Never have I hit such perty draws. My swing speed averages 110.
I did get some extraordinary height - probably went as high as it did down range - but they all drew without my consciously trying to draw - and I have a natural tendency for a fade.
Discussing this with my coach - we decided that the extra flex in the shaft lofted the face of the driver rather than leaving it open. But this would all be a function of the release mechanics. And my release mechanics can change from day to day - if not from hole to hole.

For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

Would also be a function of the flex point of the shaft. Not all graphite shafts are the same (or even close to the same) for a given "flex grade."

.I understand theNV is a fairly stiff shaft, even in "R". And if the
Mizuno driver is a deep bore, it will play even stiffer. Chances are the TM stiff shaft was on the flexible side,if ti was the stock shaft, hence your "R" shaft could play stiffer then your old stiff.I'm sure some clubmakers on here can do a better job explaining this. gary
